UI/UX Designer

We are recruiting experienced UI/UX designers to ensure front-end websites and platforms meet needs for a range of different users, use cases, and objectives. Responsibilities include identifying user requirements, drafting customer personas and user journeys, and creating other visuals and graphics to that enhance website behaviour and navigation.

In this role, you will work as part of a cross-functional team with business analysts, developers, operations and marketing to ensure positive, optimal and intuitive user experiences with our various online assets. You should be able to demonstrate your experience with design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator) and wireframe tools (e.g., Adobe XD), user research (qualitative or quantitative) and testing (A/B testing), quality assurance (e.g., development meets user objectives), and design frameworks (e.g., Google Material Design).

Summary of Competencies & Skills

Interaction design

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with managers.
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and site-maps.
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets.
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables).
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback.
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images.
  • Defining interaction patterns best suited in the context.
  • Incorporating user needs collected during user research into the designs.
  • Features and information that are important to the user.
  • Interface behavior like drag-drop, selections, and mouse-over actions.
  • Effectively communicating strengths of the system.
  • Making the interface intuitive by building affordances.
  • Maintaining consistency throughout the system.
  • Utilizing a haptic feedback system to reduce confusion.

  • MVP designs and prototyping products.
  • Mobile application development.
  • Reactive touch-based UI.
  • Participation in full development and implementation life cycles (analysis, design, build, test, implement, support, evaluate).
  • User research using web-only (e.g., A/B tests) and/or in-person interviews.

Minimum Education & Qualifications

BSc in a relevant field in Human-Computer Interaction:

  • Interaction Design
  • Cybernetics
  • Cyberpsychology
  • Computer Science

Or equivalent practical experience in a role as a UX/UI Designer, or similar capacity:

  • Working knowledge of wireframe tools (e.g. Adobe XD).
  • Portfolio of design projects.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Sketch.
  • Experience in designing icons, vector illustrations.
    • Animation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with WordPress.
  • Familiarity with design frameworks (Material or Bootstrap) and principles (e.g., Google Design):
    • Web
    • Android
    • Apple iOS

Hours & Compensation

Starting compensation offers will depend on experience, education, residency location and your particular set of specialisms.

Once an offer is made, your unique competencies, initiative and ability to prioritise and complete work on-time will be taken into account. Frequent reviews are conducted with appropriate adjustments being made depending on your performance.

Minimum expected hours are at least 10 and up to 40 hours per week. Your precise schedule can be flexible, depending on the scope of work you can perform.


This job role is a remote ‘tele-working’ position. There is no ongoing requirement that you work from an office, meaning you have the flexibility to work where you choose for yourself (e.g., library, cafe, home, or on the beach). However, your type of work will usually require that you have access to both reliable and secure computer and internet connections.
